Captain Wooden Leg & window
Painted this for Virtual Paintout's June destination: Hawaii. It is a statue located outside the Pioneer Inn Bar & Grill in Lahaina, Maui. I've visited it, in person, many times. There are several similar statues located around the area.

War
For the Virtual Paintout website - destination Canary Islands. This is a scene I found and thought was interesting...

Checkered Wall
Inspired from a spot in the Canary Islands. 4-17-10. (Like--my first attempt--at painting stones, at the bottom.)

Blue Jeans Laundry
This is my second "hanging laundry" painting from the Virtual Paintout at Canary Islands. For some reason I keep getting drawn to these types of locations! It's out of the norm from the usual landscapes and buildings, etc., so maybe that's why. I like being different!
Canary Islands Spanish Bdlg. by the sea
Don't like the colors of the bdlg., but those were the actuals colors. DO LIKE how the water's reflections turned out, using the dry brush method, so all is not lost! :-)
Man Walking - Canary Islands
Tried drawing scene with ink pen first and then painting. Love trying new techniques!
Canary Islands Villa
Trying to "think outside the box" and add colored tones to an otherwise stark white house and add pinkish Palm fronds to otherwise greenish ones.

Canary Islands
Just joined the online group Virtual Paintout and this is from this month's chalenge: to paint a scene from Google's map of the Canary Islands. So I've been vicariously traveling along the winding roads, rocky coasts and Palm-laden neighborhoods to find inspiration for another watercolor painting and here it is! Hope you like it! (I've only been painting with watercolors a little over a month now... So addicting!)
Blue Cupcake
I really like how this cupcake turned out! This is my favorite painting so far. Used frisket for the first time for the sprinkles and outline of the cupcake, but need to work on my technique better. Want a bite??

Empty Field
My little Amish man. Wonder what he's thinking? This was my first attempt painting trees in the background and making a sky. I need to work on my proportions and perspectives next! Especially like how the blue/gray colors turned out on his overalls.
Sinking Ship
My first attempt at abstract. Do you see the sinking ship? (Used tulle fabric for the fringe effect and to create texture on the boat---painted over the fabric.)
InkDrawing
This is my favorite type of artwork that I do. I've been doing this "doodling-type" of drawing since my freshman year in college, when the teacher asked me to do something original in my own style. I think I succeeded! There's no turning back once that ink hits the paper, so I have to really think about each line before I draw it. It's all spontaneous and free!
Stavanger, NORWAY
Virtual Paintout's challenge for March: paint a scene from Stavanger, Norway. Here's my first attempt at a landscape! Used a spritz water bottle to create cool effects on the grassy area, if you look close enough to see...
BigInkDrawing
This actually won 3rd place at the San Diego County Fair in 1999. I won $200! I was so excited!! It took forever to complete!
